Reports have surfaced indicating the arrest of over 21 militants at the hands of operatives from the Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps (NSCDC).
According to Naij, the arrests form part of a continued security operation that has seen scores of militants placed in the hands of security officials.
Emma Okeh, PR Officer for the NSCDC, has claimed that the suspects are currently being held in centres run by the military and the Department of State Services.
“Apart from the 19 suspects that were arrested since Thursday when the operation against the militants started, we have apprehended 21 others, bringing the total number to 40,” Okeh was quoted as saying.
The suspects are set to appear in court soon, with Okeh stating that operatives from the Ondo State Police Service are doing all they can to rid the area of miscreants looking to create trouble.
Despite reports of militants fleeing from Ogun State into Ondo, PR Officer for the State Command, Femi Joseph, has claimed that hoodlums will not be able to regroup on Ondo State ground due to the number of operatives currently on the lookout.
“We are not taking the security of the state for granted, but I don’t think any militant is here,” he said.
