Soft Drinks

A soft drink (also called soda, pop, coke, soda pop, fizzy drink, tonic, seltzer, mineral, sparkling water, or carbonated beverage) is a drink that typically contains carbonated water, a sweetener and a natural or artificial flavoring.
The sweetener may be sugar, high-fructose corn syrup, fruit juice, sugar substitutes (in the case of diet drinks) or some combination of these. Soft drinks may also contain caffeine, colorings, preservatives and other ingredients.

Health Concerns
 The over-consumption of sugar-sweetened soft drinks is associated with obesity, type 2 diabetes, dental caries, and I low nutrient levels.
Obesity is a medical condition in which excess body fat has accumulated to the extent that it may have a negative effect on health, leading to reduced life expectancy and/or increased health problems.
Diabetes mellitus type 2 (formerly Non-Insulin-dependent diabetes mellitus (NIDDM) or adult-onset diabetes) is a metabolic disorder that is characterized by hyperglycemia (high blood sugar) in the context of insulin resistance and relative lack of insulin.
Dental caries, also known as tooth decay, cavities, or caries, is a breakdown of teeth due to activities of bacteria.
Malnutrition or malnourishment is a condition that results from eating a diet in which nutrients are either not enough or are too much such that the diet causes health problems. It may involve calories, protein, carbohydrates, vitamins or minerals.
Caffeine is linked to anxiety, and sleep disruption when consumed in excess.
Sodium benzoate is a widely used as food preservatives that is the possible cause of DNA damage and hyperactivity.
Sugar-sweetened drinks causes weight gain and overweight in adults.
Harvard School of Public Health suggests in a study that sugar-sweetened beverages may be responsible for 180,000 deaths every year worldwide.
