Bayelsa state is purely
a Civil Servant state and most of the indigenes solemnly depends on the state
government for their salary. The state has no industry and well recognized
company that can employ up to 500 workers, even the oil companies and their
refineries are not situated in the state. Due to this reason the citizens of
the state depends on the state government for work.
The State Government
claims that due to the late endorsement of the federal budget challenge, affect
workers from being paid for about 8 months, so the issue of survival becomes
very hard. Money was not circulating in the state and this was the cause of many unbelievable incidents across the state.
The effect of the
current government have also contributed greatly to the
price hike of products and this is due
to the increase of transportation fare “The vehicles for hire to transport the
products to the markets have equally increased their charges because of
incessant scarcity and increase in the price of fuel as well as the bad roads”.
Hunger has devastating and far-reaching effects, just like in
the Bible days were two women agree to eat their own children of hunger Hunger
kills more people every year than AIDS, malaria and tuberculosis. Under
nutrition contributes to the deaths of 2.6 million every year. Poor nutrition
causes almost half of deaths in the world. Iodine deficiency report shows that
the world's greatest single cause of mental retardation and brain damage.
